When researching laptops I found that Toshiba and Lenovo have the highest current reliability ratings so those were the two brands I focused on. I was looking for a laptop with the new AMD A10 processor because of the good integrated graphics, which brought me to the Toshiba Satellite S855D-S5253 15.6-Inch Laptop (Ice Blue Brushed Aluminum).
The laptop arrived quickly and was a breeze to setup. Unpack, plug in, put in my wireless password and I was all set. There is a moderate amount of crapware installed, but not really too bad. Some of the included Toshiba apps are useful, but others are just reskinned Windows functions.

The price was on the high-end of my price range but it was worth it. A10 processor runs as smooth as butter. HDMI output is flawless. Screen is nice and bright. Really good laptop. I use it as our family laptop so lots of browsing, videos, picture organizing, etc. Toshiba built a great product. Very impressed.

First thing I did was clear out all the bloatware which was surprisingly less than I expected and updated to the the latest windows service pack and the latest drivers for the APU/GPU. I'm using the 12.6 Catalyst version which I think is currently a beta driver but near release. With this driver I've run BF3 on medium settings at a very smooth 30-40 FPS with no stuttering in games at 48 players or less. With 64 player matches it begins to stutter but I haven't played with overclocking the system yet as it is not my primary gaming machine.
I mainly bought the laptop for school use and it works amazing in this aswell. Once clearing out the bloatware the system boots up in 10-15 seconds from power to desktop which is about as good as you can hope for with this hard drive. The screen looks phenomenal indoors but is a bit to reflective for sunlight. If you plan to use it outdoors this could be an issue.
